We are thrilled to have Emily Ghassempour, Co Founder of Books for Change, work closely with us on a regular basis.
Emily brings diverse books alive with her bespoke storytelling workshops - these are not just any books, they are books that represent all children and all families, they are books with black protagonists, boys who dare to be different, mighty strong girls who are engineers and scientists, children who have disabilities are celebrated and take starring roles in books for change stories and LGBTQI families feature amongst all of the books in the Books for Change campaigns. Most recently Emily attended Martello's festive day where she ran a workshop on her own Iranian heritage.
We are incredibly lucky that the Books for Change campaign has been able to successfully donate over thirty new books to our school alone and we have lots of plans for the future to embed the ethos of Books for Change into our school.
Emily has recently been selected as a Judge for the 2021 Diverse Book Awards! We can't wait for our school to be a part of this journey.
