Turner Martello Home-Learning News Update

Home-Learning News Update

News : 27 March 2020

Dear Parents/ Carers,

It is great to see that so many of you are already accessing your child’s Google Classroom account and beginning to get the hang of how it works. This is a new way of working for us all and the teachers are working really hard to get the hang of how the different tools work. This week we would like you to make sure you can log into your child’s account, have a play around with how it works and perhaps have a go at any tasks the teachers have started to set. Please remember you also have the home learning packs which your child can be working on as well.

Week 2 (W/C 30/03/20)

From next week the teachers will be setting daily English, Maths and Reading/ Phonics activities for your child on Google Classroom. If you can upload any picture you have of your child’s work to the assignments but please do not worry if you are not able to do this- you can select ‘Mark as Done’ and we will know your child has completed this piece of work.

All work will be set with the end of the week as the deadline. We are aware that many of you are juggling working from home, the sharing of devices and other pressures at this time. We are aiming to provide work and activities to keep the children busy during this time, but please do not worry if they aren’t able to complete everything.

Easter Break

We will not be setting academic work during this time, but the teachers are aiming to set fun activities and challenges to help keep the children occupied.

After Easter (W/C 20/04/20 onwards)

Our new virtual school will be ready on Google Classroom!

After Easter, teachers will set daily English, Maths and Reading work; these will usually be as PowerPoints with the teacher narrating what to do for each slide. For children in Year 1 and above, there will be a weekly quiz to complete online to see how much the children have learnt. Projects, linked to other areas of the curriculum, will also be set for children to work on over a period of time.

We know this all feels a little strange and new at the moment but our teachers are working very hard to make sure that the children have everything they need to continue their education and we are here to support you and your child at every step.
